SVAN’s Musical Theater brings Children’s Play to Northville Elementary Students
The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network is sponsoring “Mermaid of Edam” through the
generosity of Stewart’s Shops. The Sacandaga Musical Theater of SVAN has invited the
Schenectady Children’s Theater to perform at the Northville Central School District for
the elementary children on April 30. Parents are welcome to bring the students
younger siblings to enjoy this exciting professional performance.
Teachers will be provided with a Mermaid of Edam study guide for the children to
enhance this wonderful artistic experience. The guide will help students better
understand and appreciate several Dutch cultural elements within the production.
Studies have shown that exposing children to the arts through music, movement,
visual arts and dramatic play, fosters creativity and imagination as well as an
appreciation for arts as they grow and mature.
This event is free to all children of the Northville Central School District, Edinburg
School and children that are being home schooled in these school districts. An adult
must accompany preschool children. The performance will be held Friday April 30 at
12:30 in the school auditorium.
Please call Natasha Cucinella at 863‐2224 with questions about the performance. For
