SACANDAGA MUSICAL THEATER — SMT

Sacandaga Musical Theater’s mission is to provide residents and visitors in the Sacandaga Valley region the opportunity to both attend and participate in quality musical theater productions and to increase the variety of arts and entertainment available for the enrichment of the community.

SMT events include dinner theaters, book shows and cabaret style performance in a variety of locations, bringing music and fun to everyone. High school and college students often join the cast for an enriching opportunity for themselves and a delight for the audiences.

SVAN/Sacandaga Musical Theater offered two new programs this summer. One event was The Summer Talent Search which sought vocal performers ages 16 to 30. After working together and learning from the members of SMT, contestants were ready to compete on Saturday July 21 in the Northville Central School auditorium. Vocalists had a chance to win a top prize of $250, second prize of $150, third prize of $100 or the $100 People’s Choice award.  The other event was a children’s theater workshop which culminated in a wonderful presentation of Hansel and Gretel!
